Is MootMoat an ATS bypass?

No. It is a DIY documentation method. It does not control an employer’s screening process, make an application visible, or promise interviews. The ontology-gap discussion explains the motivating concern and its limits.

What do I need to start?

One project you can discuss and one decision you can explain. Use a text file or your usual notes tool. Complete a workbook canvas and identify the strongest available source for its main claim.

Can I start from memory?

Yes, as a labeled recollection. Memory can identify what to investigate. It does not automatically verify dates, exact measurements, causation, or your share of a team result. If a supporting source is unavailable, state that and narrow the account accordingly.

What if the evidence is confidential?

Keep it within its appropriate access boundary. Use only material suitable for the intended audience, and review summaries and recollections as well as files before disclosure. A public record can explain the work at a permissible level without exposing the underlying artifact. Be explicit about what a reader cannot independently inspect.

Local tools do not by themselves establish that material is safe to share. MootMoat does not determine disclosure rights or legal compliance.

Can an AI assistant write the record?

It can help with organization, questions, and editing. You remain responsible for facts and attribution. Do not accept generated numbers, sources, quotations, or outcomes without checking them. Use a tool and processing environment appropriate to the material.

Are specific details proof that an account is authentic?

No. Specificity gives a reviewer something concrete to examine. A detailed story can still be invented; repeated claims can all come from the same mistaken source. Check provenance, context, and uncertainty.

Do I need every canvas or a machine-readable profile?

No. Choose the canvases that fit your evidence. The claim-evidence-project pattern is an authoring aid, not a mandatory schema. This site offers no certification, validator, or required profile endpoint.

How do I know whether the work helped?

Start with observable editorial results: can a reader identify your contribution, follow the reasoning, inspect the source where available, and see the limits? If you assess effects on hiring, keep that evaluation separate and account for other changes. This method has no established causal hiring benefit.
