What MootMoat is
MootMoat is a DIY method for documenting engineering experience. You choose a project, describe a consequential decision, identify the supporting evidence, and make the limits visible. The resulting record belongs under your control.
The work starts with a concrete question: what did you decide, under which constraints, and what supports your account?
What you make
A useful first result is one short project record containing:
- A bounded claim about your contribution.
- The constraint and alternatives that shaped the decision.
- The observation or artifact that supports the claim.
- The outcome, including what remains uncertain.
- A version suitable for the audience and permitted disclosure level.
The evidence workbook gives you twelve ways to draft that record. You can use a text file or your existing writing tools. No account, special schema, or software installation is needed to use the method.
Who does the work
You supply the experience and inspect the evidence. A writing assistant can help organize material and expose gaps, but it cannot establish that an event happened or that you caused an outcome. Check every proposed fact against a source you can examine.
Memory is a useful place to begin a draft. It is also fallible. Label recollection, distinguish estimates from recorded measurements, and avoid presenting unsupported precision as evidence.
What this site provides
This site provides the method, a practical workbook, and a discussion of its limits. It does not provide an automated extraction service, a certification scheme, or machine-readable identity endpoints.
MootMoat is not an ATS bypass or an application-volume hack. It makes no promise of ranking, discovery, interviews, or hiring outcomes. Its immediate value is a record that a person can question, check, and revise.
